Example on how to use an airless sprayer

Painting with a sprayer can be easy. Renting one from your local hardware or improvement store has become easy to do, and with complete instructions on how to do it yourself included.

Some basic steps in painting an outside wall.

1. Brush down wall with a broom and hammer down any protruding nails so they are flush with the surface.

2. If there are rust stains around nails, sand them away with sandpaper. Otherwise the stains will reappear through your fresh coat of paint.

3. Put on safety goggles and mask and spot prime nail holes with spray can of primer.

4. Install the tip on the airless sprayer and place the siphon into a can of primer.

5. Hold nozzle of sprayer eight to 10 inches from the wall and apply primer with a steady rhythmic motion. Use short, even strokes and stop at the end of each stroke.

6. Allow primer to dry for about an hour.

7. Clean sprayer and tip using water and a towel.

8. Now apply the topcoat using the same procedure. Use a piece of cardboard to prevent overspray from getting on trim.
